I know this because I installed a latency monitor application, suggested by a thread on Toms hardware, that can identify whether you would be having these performance spikes. For me, I was certain I had a buggy audio related driver that caused these increased performance spikes that not only cuts out Spotify and audio but actually freezes my computer for a few milliseconds. That vaguely gave me a hint that it was something I had installed before having these issues. Honestly, the only way I was able to fix this issue was to completely wipe my computer. Sorry for the wall of text and thanks in advance! And as much as it might be a no-brainer, I don’t really enjoy using the browser to listen to music but I will for the meantime. Things I do not wish to try: Reverting to an old version of OS or Spotify. I have no local songs and I have done multiple clean installs (deleting the appdata folder and the local folder, scanning my pc for any remaining spotify folders and deleting them). There is a possibility that it is something specifically related to my account that causes the app to crash. It is now back to crashing every 5 minutes again. As I was hasty, I set the issue with the support to resolved and I did not have the confidence to go back and ask for support again. They then suggested that I completely remove the app from the computer and download the windows version instead which had worked for over 20 minutes until it crashed again. They leant me a test account which surprisingly had no issues at all and I was able to listen to music for at least 15 minutes. Spotify support had suggested that I try another account. I had invited a 6th person to my shared family group. There was a windows update and midway through last week there was another windows update. I had installed an M.2 nvme SSD but I did not move the app onto that storage. Before this started happening, I had done some notable things that may have triggered the crashes. This issue has been going on for about a good 2 weeks.
